Mark Drakeford, first minister of Wales, has introduced new measures for companies to return into impact after Christmas to assist curb the unfold of infections.
From 27 December, nightclubs should shut and a 2m rule on social distancing in workplaces can be launched, alongside further measures to guard prospects and employees, reminiscent of one-way techniques and bodily limitations.
In a collection of tweets, Drakeford mentioned: “Delta will proceed to be the principle explanation for coronavirus infections in Wales as much as Christmas. However we’re seeing circumstances of omicron rising quickly each day in Wales – and throughout the UK.
“We want a plan to maintain us protected this Christmas and we’d like stronger measures to guard us afterwards, as we put together for a big wave of Omicron infections.
“Omicron poses a brand new menace to our well being and security. It’s the most severe growth within the pandemic so far.
“It’s one we should take critically. We are going to proceed to place in place proportionate measures to guard individuals’s lives and livelihoods.”
